JOSEPH PROJECT

The Joseph Project: A Community Food Pantry

The Joseph Project, named for the Joseph story in Genesis 41, is a partnership between Ashland Place United Methodist Church and the Dumas Wesley Community Center. Our food pantry is open to all in need and completely volunteer-supported and operated.

Food is the most basic of life’s provisions and we know there are individuals and families in our community lacking bodily nourishment on a daily basis. The elderly, the homeless, the working poor, children, etc……no one should go to bed hungry or suffer through hunger throughout the day. No one should have to choose between buying electricity/gas/water/medicine or food. As followers of Jesus Christ we will strive to do His work and feed the hungry among us.

If you are generous with the hungry and start giving yourselves to the down-and-out, Your lives will begin to glow in the darkness, your shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight.  Isaiah 58:10, The Message

Volunteers are needed each week to help with Tuesday shopping trips to the Bay Area Food Bank, Wednesday afternoons to pack food boxes, and Thursday mornings to distribute food from 10:00-12:00. We are always in need of prayer, monetary donations, food donations, boxes for packing, and magazines. If you would like to volunteer, make a donation, or get additional information please contact Patti Peacock via email the_peacocks@hotmail.com or by phone 251-776-2007.
