CHILDREN

CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
Sunday School is offered for all children from two years through sixth grade.  Children are placed in Sunday School classes according to their grade in school. Sixth graders participate in a special Confirmation Class.  Special events include Third Grade Bible Presentation and Trunk or Treat as well as occasional service projects throughout the year.

SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN
Ashland Place is in its second year of using an innovative approach to teaching children known as Workshop Sunday School. It enables our K5-5th grade children to explore the Bible in creative ways such as cooking, drama, arts/crafts, media, science, music and games. To make it a success, we are in need of volunteers to teach on a rotating basis and to serve as shepherds for each group. If you have an interest in finding out more, please call the church office and speak to Kathy Minor (478-6356). You may also email Kathy at kminor@apumc.com.
Current Rotation: January 8 – February 12 Into the Promised Land
CHILDREN’S CHURCH
Children’s Church is offered weekly during the 11:00 worship service except the first Sunday of each month.  The children sit with their families in the worship service until they are dismissed to go to Children’s Church, usually during the Hymn of Preparation.  Children ages 3 to 5 attend the program.  The program teaches children about church and the worship service.
NURSERY MINISTRY
Our nursery provides a safe, caring environment for children from birth through age four.  Child care is offered on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, as well as during various special events throughout the year.

SAFE SANCTUARY POLICY
Ashland Place United Methodist Church cares deeply about the safety and security of our children and youth.  Our Safe Sanctuary Policy helps us ensure that all programs involving children and youth are conducted in a manner that reflects this concern.  We use background checks and other guidelines and procedures to provide a place where children and youth can grow spiritually, confident that they are protected and nurtured.
