CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
Sunday School is offered for all children from two years through sixth grade. Children are placed in Sunday School classes according to their grade in school. Sixth graders participate in a special Confirmation Class. Special events include Third Grade Bible Presentation and Trunk or Treat as well as occasional service projects throughout the year.
THE LANDING – SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR ELEMENTARY CHILDREN
Ashland Place is in its third year of using an innovative approach to teaching children known as Workshop Sunday School. We call the program and children’s area “The Landing.” It enables our K5-5th grade children to explore the Bible in creative ways such as cooking, drama, arts/crafts, media, science, music and games. To make it a success, we are in need of volunteers to teach on a rotating basis. If you have an interest in finding out more, please call the church office and speak to Kathy Minor (478-6356). You may also email Kathy at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Children’s Church is offered weekly during the 11:00 worship service except the first Sunday of each month. The children sit with their families in the worship service until they are dismissed to go to Children’s Church, usually during the Hymn of Preparation. Children ages 3 to 5 attend the program. The program teaches children about church and the worship service.
Our nursery provides a safe, caring environment for children from birth through age four. Child care is offered on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, as well as during various special events throughout the year.
Children’s choir is offered for children in K4 through 5th grade on Wednesday afternoons. The children sing in Sunday worship on a regular basis.

SAFE SANCTUARY POLICY
Ashland Place United Methodist Church cares deeply about the safety and security of our children and youth. Our Safe Sanctuary Policy helps us ensure that all programs involving children and youth are conducted in a manner that reflects this concern. We use background checks and other guidelines and procedures to provide a place where children and youth can grow spiritually, confident that they are protected and nurtured.
